Riyadh: The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has launched an environmental campaign emphasizing the importance of purchasing local products to achieve economic and environmental sustainability and enhance food security, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030.
As part of its Environmental Awareness Initiative, the campaign promotes healthy consumer behaviors, supports the local economy, and raises environmental awareness by encouraging the purchase of national products, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The ministry highlighted that local products meet high-quality standards, comply with strict health and environmental regulations, and are environmentally suitable, ensuring food safety and resource conservation.
Buying national products also helps reduce the carbon footprint by minimizing reliance on imports and transportation. Additionally, it supports local farmers and producers, strengthening the national economy.
Consumers are encouraged to choose local agricultural products, meats, and dairy, which offer high nutritional value while promoting the consumption of seasonal and regional foods, reducing food waste, and lowering dependence on low-quality imports.
The ministry reaffirmed that prioritizing local products plays a key role in achieving sustainable development and improving production efficiency, contributing to Saudi Arabia’s long-term environmental and economic goals.
